No where in Article V does it called it a Convention of States. The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments. Therefore its not the propaganda words of “Convention of States”. Read ARTICLE V below and ask yourself JUST WHERE in it does it authorize any of the rules or guide lines on a Constitutional Convention the COS People are telling you are there on how a convention will be handled and by whom? Where are the rules for delegates, how do the States take a vote on the amendments they propose? Who Chairs the Convention? What are the time limits to get it done? When does a proposed amendment expire? And, etc. etc. Just where in Article V of the U.S. Constitution are these guide lines, regulations or rules for a convention? They are NOT there. Does that not scarce you? Do you think the COS people are just making things up as the go?
Article V of the U.S. Constitution
The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.
Note: Nowhere in the following is a COS mentioned – Check out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_state_applications_for_an_Article_V_Convention#List_of_State_Applications_for_an_Article_V_Convention
Why would any NEW amendment to the Constitution scarce Congress any more then the Constitution – the Supreme Law does now? The only way to scare them is to NOT RE-ELECT them. A lot of them at each election. The only lot that should be re-elected is the Freedom Caucus. Again, I ask: Just why do you thing a Government that pays no attention to the Constitution now will pay any attention to any new amendments to the Constitution?
I feel most Americans follow and read the un-annotated Constitution version of the Constitution, as far as I am concern there is only one version and IT is the Supreme Law – the Constitution as read in the little handouts of the Heritage Foundation and other foundations. Not the Analysis and Interpretation (popularly known as the Constitution Annotated) https://www.congress.gov/constitution-annotated/
This article pinpoints why a so called “Convention of the States: Scholars Ignore History” should scare you to your core. https://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/constitution/item/17514-convention-of-the-states-scholars-ignore-history
Also, something else to think about is that: Communist Goals (1963) Goal #29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. So, they may not know it, but the COS people may be doing exactly what the Communist Party wants done. One amendment at a time as it has always been, please.
