WHAT: Following the launch of FreedomWorks’ online action center, www.DemandATownhall.com, FreedomWorks and its devoted network of North and South Carolina activists have planned an action day consisting of town hall meetings, protests, and an honest discussion of the future of ObamaCare with North Carolina Congressman Mark Meadows of (NC-11) and FreedomWorks Vice President of Public Policy Dean Clancy.
FreedomWorks Vice President of Public Policy commented: “Since the launch of www.DemandATownhall.com, FreedomWorks has received a tremendous amount of positive feedback from our network of 6 million activists nationwide regarding our support of efforts to demand townhalls with members of Congress. While most members of Congress will spend the month of August dodging exposure, FreedomWorks has upped the stakes and said, ‘If you are one of the Republicans turning your back on a chance to address your constituents and the opportunity to dismantle ObamaCare before enrollment begins, we want to know your reasons why, and we want to hear them straight from you.
FreedomWorks would like to thank, liberty minded leaders like Congressman Meadows and Senator Mike Lee for leading the fight to defund ObamaCare and their consistent willingness to participate in open townhall discussions. Without these privileged leaders, groups like FreedomWorks and individuals alike would not be able to have an honest understanding of the unintended consequences of Washington’s bogus legislation tactics being displayed in ObamaCare.

Very busy (but very productive) day at the State Board of Education, so I haven’t had a chance to get to my computer and tell you about the amazing event I was able to attend last night in Newton. The Apprenticeship 2000 program, which is currently administered through the Department of Labor, is an incredible opportunity for our youth. Through this program young men and women are able to sign on with a company to learn and master a craft of a specific industry. On completion of an apprenticeship these young adults come out with a great paying and stable job. Seventeen more students signed onto this program yesterday, and about 15 graduated from the program. I had the opportunity to congratulate these young adults and hear first hand the excitement they have for the tremendous opportunities that they have been given. This program will be transferred to the Department of Commerce on January 1st. I encourage anyone interested in this program to contact the Apprenticeship 2000 folks.
Please check this information below. If we go in groups over 10 we get a $5 reduced rate normally $30…reduced to $25. There are other rates to choose from. A book signing will be at 9-9:30 pm. Let us know if you would like to form a group or meet there as a group around 5:30 pm! As of now we have 6 people as a group and 2 more going ahead on their own.

Renowned Pediatric Neurosurgeon, Inspiring Storyteller and New York Times Best-selling Author
Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D., had a childhood dream of becoming a physician. Growing up in a single parent home and being challenged by dire poverty, poor grades, a horrible temper and low self-esteem appeared to preclude the realization of that dream, until his mother, with only a third-grade education, challenged her sons to strive for excellence. Young Ben persevered, and today is a full professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery and pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he has directed pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for over a quarter of a century. He became the inaugural recipient of a professorship dedicated in his name in May, 2008.
Dr. Carson did the first and only successful separation of Siamese twins joined at the back of the head in 1987.
Carson holds more than 60 honorary doctorate degrees and has received literally hundreds of awards and citations. He is a highly regarded motivational speaker who has addressed various audiences from school systems and civic groups to corporations and the President’s National Prayer Breakfast.
In 2001, Carson was named by CNN and TIME magazine as one of the nation’s 20 foremost physicians and scientists. That same year, he was selected by the Library of Congress as one of 89 “Living Legends” on the occasion of its 200th anniversary. Carson was recognized in November, 2008 by U.S. News & World Report and Harvard’s Center for Public Leadership, as one of “America’s Best Leaders.” On February 7, 2009, the award-winning movie entitled Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. as Carson, premiered on TNT and is based on his memoir.
Carson is president and co-founder of the Carson Scholars Fund, which recognizes young people of all backgrounds for exceptional academic and humanitarian accomplishments. The Fund is currently operating in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, having awarded more than $5 million dollars to more than 5,000 scholars. The program also establishes Carson Reading Rooms to encourage young students and their families to discover the pleasure to be found in books and to recognize the true power of learning.
His five books, Gifted Hands, THINK BIG, The Big Picture, Take the Risk: Learning to Identify, Choose and Live with Acceptable Risk and America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made This Nation Great provide inspiration and insight for leading a successful life. Carson has been married for over 37 years to his wife, Candy, and is the father of three sons. And yes, his mother, Sonya Carson, who made all this possible, has lived to see all of this happen.
We have received word today that we will have access to the West Lawn of the Capitol on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 for another rally. This date is going to be critical because it will be the first full day that Congress is back in session after the recess……..Call your Senators and urge them to sign Mike Lee’s letter opposing any Continuing Resolution that funds Obamacare.
The purpose of this rally will be to defund Obamacare. This effort is being led by our very own Congressman, Mark Meadows, and if ever there was a time to show him your support-this is it!
Please make every effort to attend this rally. We fully expect the speaker list to headline Mark and Senators Mike Lee and Ted Cruz as his partners in liberty from that chamber. As soon as I receive any notification on buses out of our area, I’ll let you know.
